Description / History:
Set of two lancets. The spring lancet was used to make a quick incision in a vein by pulling the level back a releasing the fleam. Although quick and efficient, these spring devices often made cuts either too small or two big, and it was not uncommon for there to be an injury to the nerve or tendon. A severed artery, unfortunetly, was also not an uncommon occurence.

A) Dated: 1824–1855
Small brass lancet in a small red box with dark blue interior. A gold eagle with a shield is engraved onto the top of the box. The letter "T" is also scratched into the top of the case. The front of the lancet is engraved with the company name "Wiegand & Snowden" with the location "Philadelphia" engaved next to it.

B) Dated: 1720–1900
