Description / History:
Late twentieth century crutchfield tongs. Invented by Dr. William G. Crutchfield, this device is used for cervical spine fractures. The pins on this apparatus would immobilize the cervical spine by direct traction to the skull. There are five crutchfield tongs in total. These stainless steel tongs are manufactured by the following companies: Sklar (1), Grieshaber (2), and Codman & Shurtleff (2).
