This twentieth century orthopedic collection contains the following items: trocar cannula set, trocar handle, and a trocar. The curved trocar handle is made by Pilling–Phila. The trocar was manufactured by Wolf Company model no. 8934.12. Lastly, the trocar cannula set has no trademark or indication of who it was manufactured by.
Derived from the name, at the tip of this instrument has trilateral structure that converge into a single point. A trocar is used to relieve pressure by piercing through the dermis and the wall of the body cavity to withdraw any fluid or gas. Multiple uses for trocars include laparoscopic surgery and corpse embalming.
