Description / History:
1960s model of a femoral bone with interlocking nail. This procedure is used for femurs that are fractured or broken. Briefly, the interlocking nail application starts with a pilot hole at the neck of the femur, then an interlocking nail is inserted carefully through the femur, lastly a surgical jig is used to insert drill bits onto the side of the femur to secure the interlocking nail.
