Mid to late 19th century brass Mortar and Pestle.
Mortar has no visible mold seam indicating that it was manufactured after 1840. Although many crafters of brass implements polished out the seam to make them less visible, there is not even a slight indication of a seam on this mortar. There are no manufactures marks which is not unusual for 19th century brass molders. The mortar includes a handle on each side. The yellow gold color of the brass is another indication that it was manufactured in the 19th century.
