Description / History:
Set of five late 19th century clear glass mold blown glass pharmacy bottles with glass stoppers. Bottle labels are white with gold and blace trim.

Quininae Hydrochlor. Used in the treatment of malaria
Pepsinum. A homeopathic remedy for poor or weak digestion. Used as a tonic.
Sacchar Lact. Saccharum Lactis, a homeopathic remedy for constipation and intestinal putrefacation, exhaustion, and prostration from mental excitement.
Phenalgin. Used as an analgesic and antipyretic. It was also advertised as being effective in the treatment of malaria and was non–toxic. However, in the 1912 Journal of the American Medical Associan article, THE PROPAGANDA FOR REFORM, Phenalgins was analyzed and for to not only NOT be effective in the treatment of malaria but was in fact toxic. This was the beginning of drug companies being required to label products with ingredients and to be truthful in its claims.
Chinchonidine Sulphate. Quinine for use in the treatment of malaria
