Description / History:
This rhodium plated and black lacquered microscope was produced by Spencer Lens Co in Buffalo, NY. This microscope was part of the Spencer Series 33 maketed and produced in 1937. This microscope is equipped with a micrometer fine adjustment, dual cone nosepiece, mechanical stage, fork–type substage, research–type stand, and rhodium plated parts. The fork–type substage was unique to Spencer microscopes in 1937 and allowed for proper alignment in relation to the optic system. Indicated by serial number 158614 this was manufactured in 1938. Spencer Lens Co was bought in 1935 by American Optic Company, this was one of the last microscopes produced under Spencer's name.
