Description / History:
Embossed leather pocket surgical kit. Instruments include tortoise shell pocket scapels, a suturing needle, and one unknown instrument. Pocket is decorated with a pink and blue flower design and holds two small papers clipped papers, one of which is a cut out from The Missouri Democrat newspaper that ran between 1852 and 1868. Located on the inside of the front flap is the owner's name (which is regrettably illegible) and the date 1846. Due to the amount of different instruments and dated papers in the kit, the owner must have bought the bag early on and used it for atleast a decade as a carrier for his old and new instruments.
