Description / History:
This white painted metal infant scale was used to weigh infants up to 30 pounds and included height–weight–age tables for both girls and boys. The scale was sold by Detecto Scales Inc and manufactured by the Jacob Brothers Company both out of New York. The patent number located on beam (No. 1760898) indcates that this scale was produced sometime shorty after 1930. Information regarding the patent indicates that the inventor, Dollack Charles, sold his original design to the Jacob Brothers Company. The design's purpose was to have a counterweight that made structure of the scale easy to construct. Another improvement of the structure included a revolving pan to prevent accidental displacement.
