One of the most versatile instruments in surgery one forceps were used both in hospital
settings and on the battlefield. Bone forceps are normally used on smaller bones, such as the ribs, for the purpose of gaining access to the torso. Bone forceps as still used today, and the basic design has not changed dramatically, but there are now other tools that doctors may use to accomplish the same goal.
