Description / History:
The transformer is encased in a black metal box. With a plastic dial to control
voltage, the box connects to two black electrical cords. One has a cauterizer at its end made of black metal. The other cord ends in a two pronged electrical plug.
Cauterization has been used in medicine since ancient times to stop bleeding, especially
after amputations. This type of cauterization would generally involve the pressing of a heated
piece of metal onto the wound that would often produce infection due to 3rd degree burns. In the 20th century electro cauterization was introduced. This method involved applying electric current to the wound in order to heat and seal the wounds.
