A stone searcher is a type of urethral sound that was inserted into the urethra. It was used
to probe for foreign objects, most likely kidney stones. Furthermore, the sounds were used in
the first phase of the “lithotrity” procedure; the goal of which was to find, crush, and remove the
kidney stone before further irritation occurred.
