Description / History:
Clear mold blown glass medicine bottle with cork stopper. Bottle is embossed with D P C on side. Bottle labeled COLIC compressed tablets. Distributed by Diamond Pharmacal Company, manufacturing chemists. Ingredients are paragoric, sodium bicarb, and oil of fennel.
Paragoric was an opium based drug used in the treatment of diarrhea in adults and children, as an expectorant and cough medicine, to calm fretful children, and to rub on the gums to counteract the pain from teething as well as colic.

sodium bicarbonate mixed with water can be used as an antacid to treat acid indigestion and heartburn. It is used as the medicinal ingredient in gripe water for infants.

Oil of Fennel was used at an antiseptic, antispasmodic, diuretic expectorant, laxative, stimulant, a mild purgative, a treatment to rid the intestines of worms, and the relief of excess gas and as a tonic.
