Year-Round Internships
The Lancaster Medical Heritage Museum is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Museum Assistants. Volunteers in this role will play a vital part in supporting the museum’s mission to preserve and showcase the rich medical history of Lancaster County.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist visitors, providing information about exhibits and guiding them through the museum. Ensure a positive and informative experience for all guests. Collaborate with museum staff in conducting tours for groups and individual visitors. Share knowledge about the exhibits, artifacts, and the history of medicine in Lancaster. Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of exhibit spaces. Assist in the handling, care, and preservation of artifacts as needed. Contribute to the success of museum events by assisting with setup, registration, and other logistical tasks. Events may include lectures, workshops, and community outreach programs. Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs for schools and community groups. Engage with learners of all ages to enhance their understanding of medical history. Participate in outreach activities to promote the museum within the community. Distribute promotional materials and share information about upcoming events.
Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for the mission of the Lancaster Medical Heritage Museum. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Interest in medical history, museums, or related fields. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to learn and engage with diverse audiences.

Potential internship applicants must:
- Have completed their sophomore year in college
- Submit an application, including a personal statement, the names and contact information of two references (one of which must be academic), resume, and an unofficial transcript
- Go through an interview process
The hours and length of an internship may vary, and are mutually determined through the intern and the LMHM director.
