Description / History:
Hand held child "E" testing (also refered to as the "E" game, or tubling "E") was utilized to determine the child's visual acuity. The test is especially useful for children who do not yet know the alphabet and are unable to read letters from a vision card. The doctor would ask the patient to indicate the direction the legs of the "E" were pointing, and would also instruct the child to use his fingers to demonstrate the direction of the "E" was pointing. The hand held "E" was made from plastic. The cylindrical handle was opaque, while the "E" was black in color.
