Description / History:
This mid–20th century scleral pick was used by ophthalmologists during procedures and surgeries of the eye. The sclera is known as the white of the eye, and is an opaque, fibrous, protective, outer layer of the eye containing collagen and elastic fiber. The metal pick was distributed in a long, narrow rectangular cardboard box.
