Description / History:
Early 20th century military pocket surgery kit in canvas case. Kit includes scapels, forceps, probes and elevators. The kit contains more instruments than the case allows so additional instruments have been added.
Markings on canvas case and some of the instruments read: E. F. Mahady Co. Hospital Supplies, Boston, Mass., however, several of the instruments are marked Bard Parker Company. It is likely that over the years instruments have been lost and replaced.
Both E. F. Mahady Co. and Bard Parker Company manufactured surgical insturments from about 1900 to 1945, indicating this set may have been used during either WWI or WWII.
