Description / History:
Small pocket brown leather surgical kit with red cloth and purple velvet interior. Instruments include double blade pocket scalpels, arterial forceps, an ivory handle scalpel and two unknown tools. Small interior pocket holds three packets of surgeon's silk. One pack of silk is threaded through a needle attached to bottom flap of the kit. Most instruments are missing.

Maker's mark is stamped to the interior of the top flap and in gold reads, " J. Reynders & Co./ Surg'l Instr's/ Anat. Models./ 303 Fourth Av. N.Y.". J. Reynders (previously Otto & Reynders during the civil war) was in business in New York until 1900.
