Description / History:
This blue wicker and metal scale was produced by John Chatillon & Sons of New York. The scale contains a wicker crib for holding the infant while being weighed. The metal base has painted cartoon images of an elephant, tiger, and giraffe. The fourth side of the metal base contains a meter that uses a clock hand to indicate the newborn's weight in pounds and ounces. The maximum capacity is 25 pounds. Although there is not a date on this scale, John Chatillon & Sons used a wicker basket style of crib for nursey scales during the 1940s and 50s.
