This is a hand–held brass scale. There is no base or stand to hold the weights.
There are no manufacturer's marks on the scale so the manufacturer remains unknown.
This large all–brass scale was given to Mary Ellen Smith Meiser, M.D. by Alexander Czapf to donate to EHMHF. This "balance beam", as he called it, was used by Czapf in the class room when he taught Chemistry and Physics in Lancaster Schools in the 1940s.
