Description / History:
This brass scale was used as a portable suspension scale that could have been hung in a pharmacy or used by a physician or pharmacist during home visits. The scale was used by a pharmacist (father of Hilary Grant) in the early 20th century.

Additional Information:
Used by her father in his pharmacy, this scale was donated to the Edward Hand Medical Heritage Foundation by Hilary Grant and her husband, Dr. Alistair Grant.
The excellent condition of this brass scale indicates it was likely used as a display item in the pharmacy rather than everyday pharmacy use.
