This brass balance scale with wooden base complete with a drawer for accessories was produced by Henry Troemner of Philadephia, PA. Inside the drawer are 4 medicine bottles of various sizes with cork stoppers, a round box with various scale weights, a medicine box, and 2 sets of scale trays. The medicine box and bottles had labels from two druggists and pharmacists, H. N. Snyder and George W. Hull, both in Lancaster, PA. Records indicate that George W. Hull died in 1911 at the age of 68. The Lancaster County Historical Society contains a daybook and ledger of George W. Hull from 1851 – 1857 and 1858 – 1864 from the same address as noted on the labels of the bottles inside the drawer. Troesmner was established in 1838, but did become very successful until 1848.
