Description / History:
Small leather pocket surgical kit with red cloth and velvet interior. Instruments include double blade pocket scalpels, tongue–tied surgery director, forceps and three unknown tools. Interior pocket holds curved and straight needles with a packet of Lentz surgeon's silk.

Interior of front flap is stamped with the maker's mark of Lentz that reads, "Chas. Lentz/ 27 S. Tenth St./ Philadelphia". Lentz started his own business in 1875 and moved from this address in 1885, meaning this kit was made towards the beginning of his career as a business owner.
