Description / History:
This black, cast iron apothecary scale was made by Ohaus in Newark, New Jersey. It has a capacity of 10 grams and is dated between 1914 and 1940. In 1914, the company was incorporated as the Newark Scale Works. In 1947 the company was again incorporated under a different name, OHAUS Scale Corporation. A placard on this scale reads "Newark Scale Works", so it was made before the name was changed to OHAUS Scale Corporation. This scale was also made for Eimer & Amend of New York, NY. This company was acquired by Fisher Scientific Company in 1940; thus, it was made between 1914 and 1940.
