Description / History:
The Ermold Aseptic Tonsilitome with Regulating Screw
The tonsil guillotine was used in the tonsillectomy procedure. Removing the tonsils was a
last resort for treatment after repeated bouts of throat infection. In the late 19th and early 20th
centuries, forceps and scalpels22 replaced the tonsil guillotine, this reduced infection, heavy
bleeding, and sore throat.
