19th century clear blown glass medicine bottle with a glass stopper. Bottle is labeled Manganese Dioxite, Manganese peroxide, MnO2.
During the 19th century, not only was Manganese used in dry cell batteries and as an additive to iron to make it stronger, it also had medicinal uses. Manganese peroxide was used in the treatment of weak bones, anemia, and to treat menstral problems in women.
