Allied health professions aid in the health care process by providing direct patient care and support services, including therapeutic, diagnostic and technical services. The category of allied health professions includes, but is not limited to, the following groups: chiropractors, dietitians, dentists and dental hygienists, physical therapists, sonographers, speech pathologists, audiologists, optometrists, paramedics, phlebotomists, podiatrists, and medical dosimetrists.
From the early 20th century, this ophthalmic trial lens set (which can be found in the museum collection) was used to examine a patient’s refractive error.
